The Arafura games are held in Darwin every two years, and are currently underway.
Unlike other big events like the Olympics or Commonwealth Games, the Arafura Games are designed to promote the talents of emerging athletes.
From humble beginnings, the games now attract competitors from all over the Asia Pacific region and beyond. Competitors include both able bodied and disabled athletes.
This year the Arafura Games celebrate their tenth anniversary, with over 32 nations being represented. The games run from the 9th to the 17th of May.
More information can be found on the official Arafura Games website.
