Chinese Immigrants in Australia

There is a long history of Chinese migration to Australia.

As far back as 1750 Chinese traders were visiting the north coast of Australia. Small numbers began to arrive after British settlement of Ausralia in 1788. Then in the 1850s & 60s numbers increased with approximately one third of the Gold Rush miners being Chinese.
