Health in Australia
Healthcare in Australia has undergone massive adjustment since the 1970s. Generally speaking Labor governments have favoured heavily subsidised or free medical care for Australians, whilst the Liberal government prefer individuals to be responsible for their health care via private insurance.
Changes are constantly occuring and with the recently appointed Rudd, Labor federal government in power, there are more planned... Unfortunately the cost of Medicare, the national health care system, has escalated enormously. Hospitals are under funded and over populated.
