Lance Armstrong, 7-time winner of the Tour De France, will be competing in this years Tour Down Under held in South Australia.

The Tour Downunder event starts on Sunday, 18th January 2009 and finishes on Sunday, 25th January.

From humble beginnings the Tour Down Under has become a major pro event on the international cycling calendar. It's a major coup for the event, and the South Australian Government & economy.

Race organisers are expecting over 7,000 cyclists to take part in the 7 day tour from Adelaide to Angaston in the Barossa Valley. This is more than double the 3,400 participants from the 2008 event.

Hotels are alsmost full, and many restaurants and cafes are booked out. More than 600,000 spectators are expected to line the roads and watch the tour.
